Triple SIM mobile phone

Dual SIM phones are a passe.

Introducing, a very rare Triple SIM handset! Ok I'm not sure if this is the first one but this one's got to be rare! The unnamed handset from UAE based manufacturer QiiQ can devour three SIMs at one go. Thats correct, this one can hold three separate SIM cards if you found dual slots insufficient. Well, while some might think this is more if an overkill, there seems to be a sizable amount of people who would love to have three numbers instead of having to lug around three different phones.

The catch is that at a time, only two lines will be active. As for the spec sheet, this might not sound impressive. The phone is enabled with (900/1800/1900) and dual (900/1800) GSM connectivity, a 2 megapixel camera, 2.4 QVGA display (2.6 touch panel) and a rather huge 2000 mAh battery.

Motorola Launches 'Aura' in India

It looks like Motorola thinks there are many people here in India who have been untouched by the current global economic recession. Why else would it announce its high-end, premium handset in the country that costs over a lakh?

The company recently unveiled the new Aura at a function in Mumbai. Abhishek Bachchan, the brand ambassador for the brand in India was present at the occasion as well.

This one is targeted at the extremely niche, high-end consumer, who would not mind spending over a lakh on a cellphone. That's correct! The Aura will be sold in the country at an outrageous price of Rs. 1,11,492.

What do you get for just over a lakh? How does an aluminum keypad, circular 1.55 inch display protected by 62-carat sapphire crystal sound? Thanks to the Grade I crystal, the screen is virtually scratch proof. Then there is the stainless steel body, which has been chemically etched to give a premium feel. At this price, it's funny to see the attention of detail that goes into these phones. For example, the swivel key-guard has almost 130 ball bearings that work in tandem to offer a great "opening" effect. These are rated for 1,00,000 times of opening and closing. That should take some time to reach.

As for the phone-like features, this ones got 2GB of memory, support for GPRS and EDGE, a 2-megapixel camera and of course, Motorola's Crystal Talk technology found on "normal" cheap phones. There's Bluetooth with A2DP support as well. That almost winds up the feature list.

The phone will be available from mid-March at select stores in the cities of Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Hyberabad, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Mumbai and Surat.
